Akira Studio Web Design & Graphic Design Portfolio

stratford museum

Client:  Stratford Perth Museum
Project:  Website redesign
Website:  www.stratfordperthmuseum.ca

Officially incorporated in 1997,the Stratford Perth Museum has been in existence a great deal longer, starting as a collection of artifacts housed in various location across the town. In 2008, the Museum acquired a new site on the old Huron Road which gave them, "Room to grow and endless potential to interpret our rich cultural heritage and to deliver indoor and outdoor programming."

The Museum board came to Akira Studio for a modern website that would showcase their wide variety of exhibitions, talks and events and give visitors a 'one-stop shop' for information and tickets.

Key elements of the project included:

  • Social media integration on home page
  • Colourful, attractive menu design
  • Attractive rolling slideshow to advertise events
  • The latest news appearing on the home page

Home page with blogs and social media

The website homepage is the Museum's 'shop window' for events, and makes clever use of the Museum's own blog posts to provide the main body text. Below, Facebook posts and Twitter tweets appear in real time, providing visitors with the latest news and related links to articles, videos and related information. This format also ensures that visitors who are not on social media don't miss out!

Colourful menu design and rolling slideshow

Each tab in the top navigation menu is defined with its own 'classic' colour, so visitors can quickly find the information they are looking for, be it details of events, exhibitions or education programs. The colours are then repeated throughout the website, especially on the Home page to define different sections. The menu also forms an attractive 'top' to the rolling slideshow which features current and forthcoming events, with a large 'Discover More" button.

Project features:

  • Facebook and Twitter feed on home page
  • Blog feed as text on home page
  • Attractive, colourful top menu
  • Rolling slideshow of exhibition details
  • Easy to use online ticket sales portal
  • Mobile friendly design
  • 24/7/365 client access to content via CMS

Customer Testimonial:

"Our new website, developed by Akira Studio, has been a game-changer for the Stratford Perth Museum.

Not only is our new website easy to change and update, for our visitors it’s modern, attractive, informative and easy-to-navigate.

From a 2015 perspective, it’s also mobile-device and social media friendly.

It’s also had a direct impact on our revenue -- our website now includes an online box office and in the first month of use, we had over $1,000 in online ticket sales.

Akira was great to work with through the development stage and didn’t abandon us once the site was up and the bill was paid. They continued to work with us as we tweaked and made changes and are still there for us on a day-to-day basis."
