Client: Southwest Fire Academy (SFA)
Project: new branding and website
Southwest Fire Academy is one of Ontario's leading firefighting training providers, offering both pre-service and career skills training up to the level of Fire Inspector. The Academy was set up in June 2015 by professional firefighters to raise the bar in quality, in-depth fire training that was also safe for the participants.
Akira Studio was asked to create a brand identity that reflected the quality of the training, and the high level of professionalism of both the Academy and their trainers. Akira created a striking red and black logo that neatly combines a Canadian maple leaf with symbolic flames.
The website design picks up on these bold colours, with the home page featuring eye-catching full width images taken from real training exercises. In addition, the website allows students to book online for all Southwest Fire Academy courses, from Rope Rescue to Fire Instructor courses. Prospective student can add as many courses as they wish to their booking cart, and pay online after registering. Returning students can simply sign in and book their new courses.
Key to the website was the ability of the Academy to add new courses themselves as and when required. Akira copywriter Kirsty worked with the Academy to produce a rubric for their first set of course details. This rubric since been developed and refined to include the unique benefits of training with the SFA, and to include further details for students.
The website now offers a comprehensive overview of the Academy, including details of courses, profiles of the instructors, and a superb gallery of images showing training exercises from ice rescue to auto extrication.
