(See the bottom of the page for a list.)

Responsive webs design for disabled users

Responsive features can be built in to every new Akira Studio website design.

Why do I need a responsive website?

Your business needs a responsive website for two very solid business reasons:

  • Without one, you are missing out on at least 40% of users who browse websites on their phone or mobile device. Add the fact that 40% of all Canadian mobile device owners live in Ontario, and that's a massive chunk of the population that just won't find your information, products or services online unless your website is mobile-friendly.
  • Your website must be legal! Under the 2005 Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, all public sector organizations and every large organization websites had to conform to WCAG 2.0 Level A by January 2014, and be AA level compliant by January 1 2021. Corporations can be fined up to $15,000 for contraventions. Government websites and websites for those funded or managed by government must be AA level compliant by January 2016, and this includes upgrading all existing websites.

Call us to discuss your website's accessibility and conformity requirements today and ensure your website is visible and accessible on the move!

What are these WCAG 2.0 Levels?

WCAG 2.0 are technical standards for creating accessible web content. Since January 1 2012 it's been the law in Ontario that public and business website must conform to at least level A in order to meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We build all our websites with WCAG 2.0 AAA capability to make them future-proof. (For more details, see our WCAG-AAA compliance page.)
